I wonder if the Faerie is deliberately misinterpreting, there? From the wording, I don't think marriage would do it. The curse expressly mentions love, which is not the same thing at all. For that matter, I would read the curse as 'at sixteen you will fall in love'. 'My curse will end your loneliness' is not necessarily bad.

It seems that the Faerie may have her own agenda, and one that is not entirely in Bellissima's favour. I can't help wondering if Bellissima is more a favour for the Yellow Dwarf than anyone the Faerie actually cares about...

As ever, I find myself intrigued...

The Fairy of the Desert could have interpreted the curse in that way, and stated that Bellissima would fall in love. The Fairy of the Wood was vague enough with the curse wording that Desert had a lot of flexibility in terms of what she could have done to add to the curse.
